How our habits shape our life

Have you ever stared in the mirror focusing on all the imperfections of your face? That one freckle, the thin lips, your nose, uneven brows…soon you’re considering modern day approaches to “fix” these problems. Before spiraling out of control down the surgical route, you may want to reflect not at your genetic face map, but at your habits-things you CAN control.

Your nose is fine, everyone’s brows have some level of unevenness and there was nothing wrong with you until that defining moment when you chose to believe otherwise. One thing women don’t realize is years of habits have caused the problem they now seek to solve.

What YOU think about your appearance vs what you allow others to say about it.

Comparison: Everyone does this. We compare ourselves. Work with what you have, maintain it and treat it nicely. Your skin wants consistency and gentleness, not toxins and plastic. The more you fuss with your skin, the more you’ll aggravate and accelerate the aging process.

Magazines and media display their current ideas of beauty. Instead of comparing yourself to the latest beauty trends, spend time focusing on how to help your skin be at its personal best.

Clinical Data: Have you had a skin analysis lately? A deep, clinical analysis of your skin and it's sublayers can provide incredible insight to what nutrients your skin is craving.  Identifying these needs can point you to the most powerful facial regimen to give you radiant, healthy, youthful skin.

Lifestyle: So many factors are involved in breaking down our body cells. Hectic schedules and prolonged stress can take a toll on the body and its biggest organ- the skin. Find ways to relax and de-clutter your mind, it soothes the skin from harsh environmental factors.

1. Stress

Stress can make you ugly. Learn to do your best, take help where you can, and let go of what keeps you feeling frantic. Taking time for yourself and keeping practices to de-clutter your mind helps to release your body from tension.

2. Food-Are you clogging your body or detoxifying it? Food can add or take away years of healthy life. Try a reboot program to kick start healthy eating. Build new habits with nutrition education and new recipes.

3. Sleep

Many people don’t realize how they sleep can cause facial asymmetry. Pronated sleep can smash your face, causing acne and even wrinkles. Changing sleep habits can help your skin stay more lifted and balanced.

4. Exposure: Your skin may be exposed to different toxins during the day. These toxins can be smoke, pollution, and other external factors reacting with your skin chemistry. Sun exposure can also be damaging to your skin because the UV radiation penetrates the skin at the cellular level, accelerating the aging process of the dermal cells.

This series will explore your skin's journey in different phases of our life. I look forward to sharing what I've learned through years of modeling, working with professional beauty experts, and working as a skin coach & beauty educatorto help you achieve a holistic approach to feeling beautiful.  Self-reflect, stay educated, and get empowered to face life, face first.
